The California Power Upgrade for T5, T6 & T6.1

More freedom, longer operating times, full control: With our tailor-made conversion package to lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4), you can make your VW California (T5, T6 or T6.1) ready for true self-sufficiency. Thanks to the high-quality ULTIMATRON LiFePO4 battery and the compact ECTIVE BB 30 Compact charging booster. The installation kit includes everything you need for the job.

You also have the choice: do it yourself or have it professionally installed by one of our partners.

It's easier than you think!

1. You choose your package

You can choose between 1 or 2 batteries, with or without installation by one of our partners. If you choose without installation, you can order the batteries with or without an installation kit. Based on your product and installation choices, we calculate the final price, and you can conveniently pay in our online shop².

2. We supply the material

Depending on your selection, we will send the material either directly to your chosen installation partner or, if you are installing it yourself, to your preferred address. As usual, we ship from Switzerland within 24 hours, provided the items are in stock.

3. The installation partner will contact you . ¹

Your chosen installation partner will contact you within 1-2 working days to discuss the next steps and scheduling.

4. Installing your power upgrade ¹

Installation usually takes a few hours, provided your vehicle is in its original condition in the affected areas.

5. Pick up your vehicle and enjoy multiple capacities ¹

¹ Installation-specific requirements (relevant if installation was ordered through an installation partner): Battery compartments and cabinets in the trunk must be freely accessible; pull-out drawers and the bed must be removed. Any additional costs, including those for modifications not included in the factory specifications, would have to be billed directly to you by the installation partner after prior consultation.

² Payment by invoice is possible. For orders including installation, a 50% deposit is due before installation. We reserve the right to conduct credit checks and require prepayment.

Installation includes the conversion of components; no modifications to the vehicle electronics or reprogramming are performed.

The upgrade at a glance

The heart – The ULS-12-115H from Ultimatron France

The ULS-12-115H from Ultimatron France, developed in collaboration with Vanatics, is a real powerhouse. With 115Ah (1472Wh) , it offers approximately three times the storage capacity of the original 75Ah batteries thanks to its very high energy density*, and all this at a weight of only 11kg .

The powerful 200A continuous discharge current for demanding devices and the built-in heater won't let you down, even in sub-zero temperatures. Of course, Bluetooth is also included so you can monitor the battery's charge level at any time.

The dimensions of the battery correspond to the original factory battery (DIN standard size: L312 × W177 × H187 mm).

AGM batteries can only be used down to approximately 50% of their capacity before the voltage drops. LiFePO4 batteries, on the other hand, can be used to practically their full capacity (100%).

The motor - The ECTIVE BB 30 Compact charging booster

This compact and powerful 30A charging booster supplies your auxiliary batteries with power while driving.

It has a variety of important protection mechanisms to ensure safe operation, including reverse polarity protection, short circuit protection, overvoltage protection, and overheating protection .

The charging curve specifically for LiFePO4 batteries ensures that your new batteries get exactly what they need for a long life.

The California Power upgrade for the BB 30 Compact comes standard with the BT1 Bluetooth dongle , allowing you to keep track of charging progress using the brand-new ECTIVE app. It can also be optionally expanded with the integrated CMI1 monitor .

Installation kit

In addition to the batteries and charging booster, you will receive all the necessary materials to complete the installation without any additional purchases. The following products are included:

  • BT1 Bluetooth Dongle : This allows you to use the connECTIVE app to monitor the BB 30.
  • D+ Simulator : This gives the BB 30 the correct impulses to recognize when the motor is running and the BB 30 should charge, without having to pull a long cable on the device.
