Lithium batteries for your campervan, motorhome and boat

Leisure batteries store energy for your freedom on the go. The most modern technology for leisure or auxiliary batteries are lithium batteries (lithium iron phosphate or LiFePO4 ). They are particularly distinguished by their outstanding power-to-weight ratio , which, due to their very high energy density, is about three times higher than that of the significantly heavier lead-acid batteries.

Unlike conventional batteries, lithium batteries can be discharged almost to 100% , meaning that nearly the entire stored capacity is available for energy storage. Furthermore, lithium batteries have a significantly longer lifespan and cycle life (up to 5,000 cycles).

All our offered power supply batteries are lithium batteries with Class A cells and are of the highest quality !

Questions & Answers

What constitutes a good auxiliary or secondary battery? The required level of service depends heavily on individual travel habits and needs. In any case, it should meet the following criteria:

  • Ample capacity : This should be sufficient to operate all electrical devices independently for a certain period of time.
  • Sufficient power: The supply battery should be able to provide enough power or current so that even power-hungry devices such as coffee machines etc. can be operated without problems.
  • Low weight: Depending on the vehicle, the weight of the battery plays a major role.
  • Good quality: The auxiliary battery should be of high quality. This is the only way to prevent problems and make it a worthwhile purchase in the long run.

Lithium batteries , in which lithium is the basis of the energy storage, are the most modern technology currently available on the market.

Lithium iron phosphate batteries ( LiFePO4 ) have become the standard for use as a primary or secondary battery : They are distinguished from conventional batteries by their High energy density at low weight, as they can be discharged to almost 100% without sustaining damage. They are also particularly durable , have a long service life ( cycle stability ) and are absolutely safe.

The required capacity of a lithium battery depends on the power demand . This is primarily determined by the power consumption of the connected devices and should include a safety reserve (50%) .

Example calculation:

  • TV with 50W/12V, daily 2h: 50W/12V (= 4.2A) * 2h = 8.4 Ah
  • Charger with 40W/12V, 1h daily: 40W/12V (= 3.33A) * 1h = 3.33Ah
  • Hair dryer with 1200W/230V, daily use 0.2h: 1200/12V (= 100A)* 0.2 h= 20Ah
  • Refrigerator with 120W/12V, running for 6 hours daily = 120W/12V (= 10A) * 6h = 60Ah
  • Total consumption = 8.4Ah + 3.33Ah + 20Ah + 60Ah = 91.73Ah
  • Capacity = 91.73Ah * 1.5 (50% reserve) = 137.60Ah
